Neither of us can believe the picture that this TV has. It is absolutely incredible. We also watch some of the non-HD digital channels. Whatever the reason, we are both VERY happy with this TV. DVDs look excellent on this TV. We have digital cable and prefer to watch the HD channels. The sound is also quite good.
No, it is not home theatre quality but it IS better than any other TV we have owned. The richness of color and excellent contrast HAVE to be seen at home to be believed. That will make this a complete home entertainment system. I don't know if this TV has a DVD upgrade feature or not but it sure looks like it does. I thought that the picture was great at the store but it is much better at home. It was to replace a dying Sanyo 32" CRT type HDTV. It is, without doubt, the best TV image we've ever seen.
Perhaps this is due to not having 15-20 TVs all feeding off of the same signal source. Even they look pretty good. Can't wait to build a HTPC for this with HD-DVD / BR player, TB sized HD, and TV tuner card. My wife and I bought this TV in late April. and that includes some very high dollar TVs demoed at various stores. Reflections off of the screen are a non-problem in our home and the TV is in a well lighted room with 4 windows.
The HDTV was delivered on time as promised, and it was in perfect condition.I had previously tried buying this through another online seller and after waiting for 10 days was given the run-around. The day after placing the order the Crutchfields office called me to confirm the purchase and the delivery.I am pleased the purchase went so well through Amazon, and I will not hesitate to buy another HDTV through Amazon.com Excellent picture. I decided to buy it through Amazon, for only about $25 dollars more, but I had the Amazon guarantee backing up my purchase, from Crutchfields.
There's no TV that can improve that. [.]. Any reviews in here about blurred images or motion issues are absurd. I finally get the full impact of my Blu Rays and viewing from 7ft I've noticed an extreme difference from my old 720p. After a week, I'm blown away by the TH-50pz85u. Panasonic Viera TH-50PZ85U 50" 1080p Plasma HDTVUpgraded from a 4 year old 52" rear projection 720p TV. I've got it right next to glass sliding doors where sun pours in all day long and the light is no problem whatsoever. They're most likely watching a bad HD signal from their cable/satellite provider.
If you're taking the first plunge to HDTV or plasma this is a worthy upgrade. It is a power beast though, rated at over 600watts during regular operation, but since it is my only TV I am not really concerned. I picked this up locally from my warehouse store, all I can say is WOW. Superb addition to my home and major upgrade over my old 27" Sony WEGA. Prices keep slipping as the new 2009 sets start popping up.
If your looking for a new HD TV, I highly recommend this one. I haven't gotten the chance to test the HDMI yet, but I am sure it will work great. This TV is great. 3 HDMI inputs, lots of other inputs, Great picture, easy to use menus, Awesome HD picture. Has SD card slot to view your digital pictures too.
